Project Background

The Keppel Viaduct, which carries part of Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), is about 2.2km long starting from Pier P1 joining South Quay Viaduct in the east to Pier P68 connecting to the rest of AYE in the west. Under the scope of this design-and-built contract, the existing dual 3-lane viaduct will be widened and upgraded to accommodate dual 4-lane traffic. The associated four numbers of entry and exit ramps will also be widened and/or upgraded.

YWL Engineering was engaged by the Contractor as QP(D) to provide the tender/detailed design and construction engineering services as follows:

1. Design of the new structure elements
2. Condition survey for the existing viaduct structures
3. Structural assessment and strengthening proposal for the existing viaduct structures
4. Road safety review
5. Construction support
