Contract 1687 - Construction of Station EW31 and Viaducts for Tuas West Extension, Singapore

Project Background

Tuas West Extension in Singapore is an extension of the East-West Line from Joo Koon station, consisting of a 7.5km long twin tracked MRT viaduct, four aboveground stations and a depot. The MRT viaduct is also integrated with a road viaduct along Pioneer Road.

C1687 comprises the construction of the elevated Tuas Crescent station at Pioneer Road, and approximately 2.4 km of MRT viaduct which will be integrated with part of the 4.8km of road viaduct. The dual 3-lane road viaduct will run along Pioneer Road to join Tuas South Avenue 3. When completed, the road viaduct will provide motorists an alternative to the busy Pioneer Road.

The elevated viaduct under Contract 1687 consists of approximately 495 spans of precast segmental box girders, in which 112 spans are for rail viaduct, and 383 spans are for road viaduct. Based on the Engineer’s design, the precast segmental rail viaduct is to be constructed using span-by-span method, while road viaduct using balanced cantilever method.
